"Authority Issues: When it comes to pride...I'm #1"

John 8:28-29
"So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the one I claim to be and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him."

John 12:29
"Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him."

John 14:31
"But the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me. "Come now; let us leave."

Notes taken from Isaac Hunter's sermon...
*"We exist best under His authority and those authorities God has placed in our authority."
*"Some of us have an inherent distaste for authority."
*"Jesus submitted fully to what God says. Submission was something Jesus modeled and made beautiful. Jesus was doing what God wants me to do, as seen when He said 'not my will, but Thine'. He fully submitted to the authority of our Father."
*"People in our culture hold those up, who fight and do not conform to authority."
*"Some of us have been or are in the rebellious zone- you know the right things to do but you do not care, puffs you up. You say 'I am above the rules and I am able to manage the consequences when they came'."
*"Rebellion is a common thing seen many times in Scripture. ie. Ezekial 28 with Lucifer."
*"You feel God is holding you back from something. We feel we can survive this even though we have seen others suffer consequences doing the same actions we are doing. However, God sees you, He knows you, He loves you, in the midst of all your 'junk' or will He have to force you to surrender?"
*"You can isolate but you can not insulate yourself."
*"If you surrender now, you will have scars but the pain will be minimized. It is better to throw up your hands and surrender."
"God wants to love you now. All this stuff (what we have on earth) is going away, but all this stuff (what God has to offer) is forever."
