"Bread Expires"

Exodus 16:1-5
"The whole Israelite community set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had come out of Egypt. In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, "If only we had died by the LORD's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death."
Then the LORD said to Moses, "I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on the other days."

Exodus 16:16-20
"This is what the LORD has commanded: 'Each one is to gather as much as he needs. Take an omer for each person you have in your tent.' "
The Israelites did as they were told; some gathered much, some little. 18 And when they measured it by the omer, he who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little did not have too little. Each one gathered as much as he needed.
Then Moses said to them, "No one is to keep any of it until morning."
However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them."

Psalm 13:6
"I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me."

Nehemiah 9:6
"You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you."

Luke 11:11-13
"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Notes taken from Isaac Hunter's sermons:
*"God's people are no longer wanting to do what it takes, getting complacent, getting soft."
*"Created not just as recipients of God's grace but conduits of grace to others."
*"Reacknowledge our need for God's help."
*"Arise- God can change our position- does forgiveness start or end there?"
*"Hard question- 'do you want to be made well?'. The progress/journeying is difficult. When it gets hard, ask for God's help. Recognize you need something you do not have."
*"Focus in on being fed by God. Consumption, not just looking at it. Form and shape our character by what we read in the Scripture."
*"Challenge- set aside a time daily to give our time and energy to read the Scriptures. Pick a time, pick a place. Make a plan."

How I need to take on this challenge...
My plan is this, I will set aside time in the morning to spend time with God. I will do it right after I work out in the morning, this way, I am fully awake to take it all in. Once school starts, I need to get up earlier. When I am in the Word, I see the need I have to spend time with God. When I am away from studying the Word, I also see that the need I have to spend time with God. It is necessary for me to do this. Please God, I desire to love more and look more like you Jesus!!!
