"Mastering Affluence: What You Value Shapes Your Values"

Deuteronomy 26:3-5
"and say to the priest in office at the time, "I declare today to the LORD your God that I have come to the land the LORD swore to our forefathers to give us." The priest shall take the basket from your hands and set it down in front of the altar of the LORD your God. Then you shall declare before the LORD your God: "My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful and numerous."

Luke 19:1-10
"Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today." So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
All the people saw this and began to mutter, "He has gone to be the guest of a 'sinner.' "
But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount."
Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost."

Notes taken from Isaac Hunter's sermon (02/01/2009)...
*"We are called to turn the world upside down. Christians who are half-hearted do not turn the world upside down."
*"Be grateful. Be responsible. Don't forget whose all this really is."
*"Rules are for your benefit and the benefit of others."
*"Rely on the everyday faithfulness of God. Everything you get is a gift from God."
*"Contentment is a learned behavior. Ask God for that continued perspective no matter what others have. Always say, 'it could be worse'."
*"Decide I have enough this day!
*"Be the kind of people God called us to be. 1st realize you have enough. 2nd, God will take what you have and use it to feed more people than you thought possible.

Deuteronomy 26:13
