"Mastering Affluence: Work on your Image"

Genesis 1:26-31
"Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so.
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day."

Notes taken from Isaac Hunter's sermon (02/08/09)...
*"God works from the overflow of His love."
*"Be productive, be constructive. Be workers that honor God in ways that create value in those around us."
*"Work isn't always something you are paid to do." Colossians 3:23 says "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."
*"Recognize that there is something valuable in someone who works." Colossians 3:22 says "Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord."
*"How you work matters to God. Good godly character does not make up for lack of competence. God did not make us to be mediocre."
*"Treat the people you encounter everyday the way Jesus would treat them." Philipians 2:4 says "Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others."
*"God says 'you must follow me'. Peter kept saying 'what about him?'. Our call is unaffected by what others are called to do."
*"Be faithful to Him in the process. Pour yourself into where you are right now."

Jeremiah 10:12
"But God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding."

Psalm 89:5
"The heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones."

I Peter 1:15-16
"But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."

Exodus 15:11
"Who among the gods is like you, O LORD? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?"
