"Lent: A Triumphal Exit"

John 12:12-16
"The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna!"
"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the King of Israel!" 14Jesus found a young donkey and sat upon it, as it is written, "Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey's colt."
At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him."

Exodus 14:10-14
As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the LORD. They said to Moses, "Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn't we say to you in Egypt, 'Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians'? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!"
Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still."

Notes taken from Isaac Hunter's sermon (04/05/09)...
*"Many people's backs are against a wall...job, health, relationship, finances."
*"Israelites reacted 2 ways...fear and sarcasm!"
*"We make decisions our of reaction to fear."
*"Sarcasm can be unbelievably destructive. It is non-productive and not that helpful."
*"Don't let your reaction be ruled by your initial responses. Hang out with old saints, who have learned that God is faithful. They have learned to not base their decisions on fear."
*"He did not give us a spirit of timidity. God can redeem any situation."
*"Stand firm...recognize that you have to stand in the place that you are. Jesus paid for our sins. Wait patiently, not passively on the strength of God. Wait and expect God to move."
*"If God is for us, who can be against us?"

Matthew 6:27
"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"
